Forensic Aspects of Firearms and Tool Mark Evidence

This course covers the terminal effects of different classes of firearms used in major crimes. It outlines the various aspects of internal, external and terminal ballistics, with emphasis on wound ballistics. The course introduces various methodologies for detecting and preserving ballistic evidence typically encountered at crime scenes. The identification process for fired ammunition components as well as other items bearing tool marks is examined. (3 credits, Lec.)
